Abstract

Nowadays, owing to the shock from the global financial crisis, many countries have suffered from unemployment problems. To resolve these problems, world's leading countries have emphasized the necessity of revitalization of business startup and entrepreneurship as a survival strategy. For instance, Barack Obama, the current president of the U.S., offered 'Startup America' as the national vision and European Union is pushing strong policies helping venture businesses and stimulating entrepreneurship. However, regardless of the fact that technology based startup can improve national industrial competitiveness, South Korea's entrepreneurship, especially young generation's, has been weakened. Therefore, this paper aims at identifying the problems of starting technology business in South Korea and offering effective policies to solve those problems. In the process of the research, we revealed main causes of the fall in entrepreneurship and factors that make startup difficult for the young adult.
In this paper, at first, we mention theoretical background of entrepreneurship and previous researches on entrepreneurship to identify the important factors influencing business startup. We indicate several systematical problems such as lack of educational opportunities and mentoring system for students who want to start a business, lack of financial supports for seed money and social conditions that hardly allow the failure. In these adverse and unsatisfied circumstances, people find themselves thinking it is too risky to start a business as they can rarely forecast expected return and measure failure cost. To solve these issues, we conclude that the government have to intervene in the market ecosystem by implementing policies concerning business startup. (The rest is omitted)
