The creation of demand and market expansion for green technology accelerates eco-innovation by reducing the market uncertainty typically faced by green technology. In addition, the replacement of traditional technologies by resource conservative and energy efficient eco-friendly ones helps facilitate green industry, enhance the environment, and improve energy efficiency, which are the targets of low carbon/green growth strategy.
This brings the government to create public demand by using policy instruments for public procurement and to promote private demand via various policy measures, including subsidies, taxation, labeling, marketing, and education. As policies are conducted it is necessary to analyze and predict the effects of policy instruments in order to enhance their effectiveness by establishing and implementing policy strategies, expanding highly performed policy measures and improving less effective ones.
The academic purpose of this research is to suggest the methodological framework that makes it possible to analyze policies promoting private demand. Its practical purpose is to assess the effects of policies by applying a suggested model. The model was based on the previous econometric framework, and the focus has been made on an empirical analysis of green-technology products recently launched in the Korean market. The main part of this study is to categorize and analyze policy instruments on green cars, green homes, and green appliances available in the market to any household.
