Abstract

The creative industry has been at the center of active discussion along with creativity and creative economy. Recently, there have been policy supports for cultivating the cultural content industry, and nurturing the entertainment industry is growing important as a policy agenda. Furthermore, the advance of IT technology has great impact not just on the cultural content industry but on the overall creative industry. From the industrial perspective, the development of IT technology has substantially changed the value chain (design- production- distribution-division) and it is expected to change more in the future than it had done.
This study is aimed at providing future outlook of the market that has uncertainties based on the characteristics of technological opportunity and demands in the creative industry. Focusing on entertainment sectors, including broadcasting, drama, film and music, this study analyses the characteristics of the industrial structure, and looks at the current state of innovation system and value chain. Then it analyses the ecosystem comprising of production, distribution and consumption, and the characteristics of technological opportunity and demands. By looking into the changes in the market structure and innovation system, this study provides the outlook of the entertainment industry according to the changes in the technological opportunity and demands, and draws policy issues.
