Abstract

Energy is rising on the agenda of the government of theRepublic of Korea (ROK) as it tries to reconcile economic growth with increasing energy prices and stricter environmental targets. The government works closely with research institutes and private companies in creating policy and developing new energy technologies to achieve these aims. Combined heat and power(CHP) is firmly embedded in energy policy, largely through its application in district heating and cooling (DHC). The government already supports CHP through its planning policy and tax incentives, and further measures are under development.
