Abstract

China gets higher national prestige since it has expanded market-opening policy after joining the WTO in 2001, holding the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and Shanghai International Expo in 2010 successfully.
Based on this phenomenon, China makes an attempt at qualitative economic and social growth. China’s aviation industry has been continuously growing about 10% or more since the 2000s and expected leading the world aviation market. Also China has 25% of air transport share and 20% or more of cargo share of nation’s total transportation. So China is considered as a prime trade partner of Korea.
Meanwhile, airport policy aims to make hub airport based on major airlines externally, and promote the efficiency of airport operations internally. So each airport operator is looking for ways to survive from fierce competition among them.
In the future, expanding of open-sky between Korea and China, interdependence of two nations is expected to be higher. These changes in environment might have an influence on airport policy of Korea and China. So it is highly expected to make strength partnership between airports.
In other words, Korea and China’s major airports are in competition to make hub airport of Northeast Asia. But it is also needed to seek cooperation through joint research for improvement of the competitiveness of the aviation industry in Korea and China.
Accordingly this study presents collaboration measures among the facilities, operations and policy of Korea and China’s major airport to increase the exchange of aviation industry and open sky.
We are expect that this study contributes to the development of the aviation industry between Korea and China through the cooperation exchange presented in this study. Also we expect activation of regional airports by synergies of aviation and tourism and furthermore improving the quality of aviation services between Korea and China.
