Abstract

Parcel delivery service is one of the most significant modes to deliver goods in a quick and an efficient way within a highly dense city like Seoul. A record shows that more than 30 parcel boxes a month are delivered to one household in Seoul on average. It means every household in Seoul has at least one delivered parcel every day. The number of pick-ups and deliveries a day in Seoul is estimated to total around 5.6 million parcels. It is also noticeable that the form of urban logistics activities in Seoul has been shifted from B2B-centered one to B2C or C2C. The advent of online shopping has been upsweeping the development of parcel service system. Land use plan in city and urban structure would influence the logistics process and logistics strategy for urban freight transportation. This study examines how logistics characteristics influence urban logistics process and urban transportation in the City of Seoul by urban land use type. (The rest omitted)
