Abstract

The 5th KINU-USIP Washington Workshop, hosted by USIP’s Korea Working Group, will assess the situation in North Korea following the death of Kim Jong-il; examine the North Korean nuclear problem and the security of the Korean Peninsula; explore ways to improve human rights in North Korea through international cooperation; and analyze the rise of China and implications for U.S.- ROK cooperation. The guiding objectives of the ongoing KINU-USIP Washington Workshop series are:
- To foster deeper mutual understanding of evolving political, security, and economic issues on the Korean Peninsula
- To exchange views on specific ways to address these pressing policy issues
