Abstract
In order to overcome the stagnation in Korea’s capital markets, it is necessary to develop diverse financial products. Compared to other manufactured products, developing and retaining a new financial product incur low costs, and if successfully launched, it creates high added value. Recommendable financial products include VKOSPI futures to manage volatility risk, energy derivatives to rein in risk related to energy price fluctuation, and ETNs to pursue medium risk, medium return investments in the era of population aging. Furthermore, it is worth considering the introduction of mini contracts, market makers, and block trades.
