Abstract

Today, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is one of the important economic issues. As trading partners are forming regional blocs in the globalized economy, FTA is becoming one of the global trends. And East Asia is not an exception. China, Japan, and South East Asian countries are actively seeking FTAs. In this regard, it is timely and appropriate to look at the impacts of FTAs on the IT industry, which accounts for around 30% of Korea's economic growth and export. Also, it is urgent to explore how to respond to this global economic trend. New knowledge and technology spread faster in the IT industry than in any other industry. Consequently, economies of scale and the first mover's advantage have more meaning in the IT sector. This, in turn, means that market expansion by FTAs can significantly contribute to growth of the IT industry. (The rest omitted)
