Abstract

The essential of stream restoration is to recover ecological structure and function of disturbed streams, and it involves to restore channel and corridors as natural as possible. Restoration basically emphasizes on the ecological perspective. This study conducted to establish a basic restoration strategy of three streams (Gapyong, Anyang, and Kyungan streams) in Gyeonggi Province through a survey and analysis of stream habitats and ecological health using by benthic diatom, macroinvertebrates, and fish. According to the analysis of habitat quality, upstream part of Gapyong stream with little disturbance showed an excellent condition. While, Anyang Stream which flows through the city area and Kyungan Stream under heavy construction around upland of the channel and corridor area were assessed to be deteriorated in the habitat quality.
