Abstract

This paperexamines the rationale, structure and implications of recently proposed Northeast Asia (China, Japan and South Korea) trilateral FTA so as to ascertain its potential impact on trade with Australia. It will be argued that the emergence of this nascentpolitical and economic cooperation between China, Japan and South Korea will require Australia to strategically reposition its trade with these countries and other trading partners.
