Abstract

The current study deals with Korean (south) economic development. The country represents a clear case of success, in its economic growth as well as its democratic transformation. Both have been remarkable. The objective of the current research is to address the following question: how was it possible for Korea to develop while it was dependent? To tackle this question, the research began by grounding Korea‟s experience in proper methodological as well as theoretical frameworks. The research followed the critical naturalist methodology to approach its objective. At the theoretical level, Korea‟s (south) economic performance has represented a real challenge to the existing theoretical literature that deals with development issues. (The rest omitted)
