Abstract
In this day, governments around the globe are facing numerous societal challenges that hinder efficient governance. Social inequality, aging society, global epidemics, and public safety are just some of the issues that plague societies and to which governments must devote greater attention to ensure the wellbeing of their citizens. To tackle these issues with a collective force, it is imperative that governments first take the initiative to exercise efficient governance based upon a service-oriented system that is attentive to the public needs while providing essential services that optimize public engagement and participation. Good governance requires the transparency and accountability of governments, which not only allow citizens to benefit from government services but also encourage them to fully exercise their rightful citizenship. It is important that governments invest in good governance, as it is the foundation for sustainable development of economy and society.
